M5 J29 is very unusual, considering two major holiday routes meet here.

M60/A6144(M) - single carriageway roads and mini roundabouts

other end of the A6144(M) a set of traffic lights

M23 J7 - half built

M25 J5 - totso with no hard shoulders on the M25 at one point because its the old A21.

A40(M) (Decd) one of the slip roads was a 150 year old bridge over the railway

It's botched that's why, it works well though, having spent a while down that part of the world in the summer.

Don't let Gazzaa hear you say that! I haven't seen him around for a while, so you're probably safe...

(He designed it, so it's not botched )

No, I mean the A417. The junction works well as I said.

M6 J7 (Great Barr).

It's weird how you almost go around full circle to get on to the A34.

M5 J11a is nuts. Regardless of who "designed" it.

The only missing movements are:
  • The westbound slip off the roundabout. It can't go there as it would clash with the off-slip going to M5 northbound.
  • The southbound M5 can't reach the westbound A417. However, that movement is adequately covered by J11.
I agree that it looks weird.

Feeble replies really compared to some others...

M1 J38 Haigh Roundabout - the A637 doesn't cross the M1, the road off to the east in unclassified, and there is a bus stop road cut into the eastern edge of the roundabout.

M1 J23a - basically two restricted access junctions, so that northbound traffic uses this junction to get to East Midlands Airport and southbound traffic uses it to get on the A42 - but not possible vice-versa.

M62 J26 Chair Bar - not only does traffic from M62 westbound that wants the M606 need to use the roundabout, but it is marked out wrongly (just before the M606 slip diverges, approximately where my arrow is marked).
