Port Laoise (also known as Portlaoise) is a town on the M7 corridor in the southern Irish Midlands. Unusually for a town outside of the Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) parts of Ireland, only one name is present on road signs. In this case, however, this is simply because the Irish and English variants of the name are the same. Along with the M7, the N77 and N80 provide a major cross-country route through this part of Ireland.
