The second use of the B9002 number dates to sometime before 1932, when a previously unclassified road in west Aberdeenshire was given Class II status.
Starting on the A97 in Rhynie the road headed west across undulating terrain but passing no places of any size. Several bendy miles later the route ended on the newly extended A941 at Elrick. In 1935 the B9002 and A941 numbers swapped routes, with the A-road now crossing directly from Elrick to Rhynie, whilst the B9002 followed the even less populated route to the south.
