Route outline (key)
B9032 Coburty - Rathen

The B9032 is a short B-road in northeast Aberdeenshire.

Heading east towards Mid Ardlaw on the B9032

The route starts at Coburty at a TOTSO on the B9031, where eastbound traffic on that road are given a choice of ways to reach Fraserburgh. The B9032 is the shorter route, which perhaps explains the TOTSO. From the junction the route heads east along a slight ridge and descends gently across the fields to Mid Ardlaw, where it crosses the A98 (and Fraserburgh traffic turns left). Although the road continues to descend on the eastern side of the A98 the terrain is now much flatter. A long straight leads past an old gravel quarry and the isolated Heath Hill Hotel before reaching the small village of Memsie and another crossroads, this time with the A981. Memsie seems to be a modern village, with a long line of fairly modern bungalows strung along Muir Road, and just a handful of older buildings at the crossroads itself.

Beyond the village the route continues to descend gently, although this final section is more winding. It weaves through the fields, crossing the tiny Doolie Burn shortly before reaching its terminus at a T-junction on the A90 (former A92) to the north of Rathen. Although the route does provide a distant bypass to Fraserburgh, there cannot be much traffic which reaches this distant corner of Aberdeenshire that isn't heading for the town!

The 1922 MOT Road List defines this route as: Coburty - Memsie - Rathen
