For the other former B9098 in Perthshire, see B9098 (Auchterarder).
This incarnation of the B9098 is only known from the 1:25,000 OS Mapping from 1955, as illustrated to the right, and indeed the One Inch map from the same year. The route appears to run along what is now Green Road in Kinross, connecting the A977 (now the B918) with the A90 (now the B996) along a route which is now unclassified. The route is not shown on the 1951 OS Six Inch Map nor the 1959 1:10,000 sheet, which shows the A922 following Springfield Road to the north.
What is curious, however, is that the 1957 and 1960 editions of the one-inch map do not show this route; furthermore, they don't even show the western end as a complete road, instead marking it as a track. They also show the A922 following Springfield Road to the north as it does today, although the 1:25,000 sheet shows that route as unclassified. It is therefore worth wondering if the 1955 maps are incorrect, and the B9098 route was actually that of the A922, and was upgraded just a few years after creation.
